Let us remind you, the Ministry of Finance released the e-receipts application on December 31, 2021, which in the current edition allows customers to save scans of paper receipts and is currently working on the functionality of downloading electronic receipts. It is also added that a new version of the e-receipts application is to be released, which will support both paper and electronic receipts. He indicated that the service would be preceded by a media campaign. The deputy minister explained that e-receipts are a joint project of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Development and Technology.

According to the plans of the Ministry of Finance regarding the introduction of e-receipts, the use of this innovation is to be voluntary for both stores and buyers. After the expected entry into force of the relevant regulation, the software of several hundred thousand online cash registers operating in Polish stores will require the necessary updates, which will probably take some time. In the future, the application will be expanded with functionality that allows customers to download a receipt in electronic form directly from the cash register, e.g., via SMS or via Bluetooth.

Therefore, certain changes, including in the field of digitization, must be initiated or accelerated administratively. This is the case with the move away from printed receipts. There are enormous benefits, especially for the environment, but also for the tax authorities.
