The NRA introduces double protection for payments through a virtual POS
The National Revenue Agency (NRA) has introduced specific two-factor identification when confirming the payment via the Internet by using bank cards. This measure and introduction of the more secured manner for conducting payments online were based on protecting the buyers on potential thefts while conducting the online payments. The virtual POS of the NRA is one of the most frequently used services of the Ministry. An enormous quantity of the transactions has been via the virtual POS of the NRA since its establishment. Improving the security of online payments is in implementation of the current Payment Services Directive-PSD 2, for all citizens of the EU starting from the 30/03/2021, and the NRA will make necessary adjustments to switch to the protocol in compliance with the directive on its virtual POS terminal. This will lead also to a change in the page for entering card data when paying amounts to the NRA. There will also be a different way of confirming transactions for customers operating with the cards that support Mastercard IdentityCheck and Verified by Visa. The entered two-factor identification includes, in addition to the familiar dynamic password, another static one - 3D password, which serves to confirm online payments. It will be given by the servicing bank that issued the card, as stated in the explanatory note of the NRA.
