The purpose of this document is to explain how gift cards are sold and used according to Czech law and whether there are any specific conditions that need to be fulfilled related to the transactions sent to the authorities for authorization purposes. Like in other countries in the EU, there are two types of gift cards – single-purpose and multi-purpose, which imply different tax treatments (different moments of VAT calculation).
