Obligatory technical check-up of cash registers in Sweden

Sweden has a hardware-based fiscalization system. That means that it is mandatory to use certain devices to capture transactions. In Sweden, it is a cash register and control unit device. Also, in relation to the obligatory usage of cash registers, there are also mandatory requirements that must be fulfilled to be in accordance with the main rules. One of them is a technical checkup of cash registers. More precisely, cash registers must undergo recurring technical control by a body that is accredited for it.

It must be carried out

• no later than one year from the day it was put into use.
• no later than one year from the last inspection by an accredited body
• after breaking the prescribed seal, or
• if the Swedish Tax Agency has found deficiencies in the function of the cash register,

It is important to state that the protocols from the technical inspection must be available on the business premises.
