What did Bulgarian business entities say about the introduction of the euro as an official currency?

The euro as an official currency has been announced. The concept of the Law has been introduced, but there are still no official laws or deadlines. But certainly, the process is ongoing. The state has contacted consulates to gain their opinion about the transition period. Their statement was about the direct adoption of the euro and not its parallel introduction. As a reminder, the above-mentioned Concept of the Law introduces the parallel period for both lev and euro, which will be in circulation at the same time.

According to Bulgarian business entities, the best option is the fastest adoption of the European currency rather than its prolonged parallel use. Also, the finance minister announced that talks are underway with the European Commission and the European Central Bank about whether it is possible to use the euro and the lev together before Bulgaria is admitted to the Eurozone. So, the process of joining Bulgaria to the Eurozone will certainly affect the introduction of the euro as an official currency. The official law is still expected to be introduced, along with changes in other regulations. Also, current fiscalization rules will be affected.
