Slovakian Tax Authority to increase cash register inspections until the end of the year

The Financial Administration regularly carries out checks aimed at ensuring compliance with the law on the use of electronic cash registers. As announced in 2023, they tried to increase the number of audits, which yielded positive results. In the first half of this year alone, they checked 2,940 cash registers in the form of control purchases and online monitoring. These controls also have a preventive effect. This is evidenced by the growth of registered sales in the establishments after they were visited by the auditors of the financial administration.

In addition to regular control activities, the financial administration also focuses on detecting cash registers that issue fake receipts. From December of last year to July of this year, inspectors impounded 32 cash registers used by 13 business entities on suspicion of circumventing the eKasa system.

During these audits, the TA found violations of the law in 1,042 cases, which represents 46.46% of the total number of inspection purchases and 33.29% of the total number of inspections, including monitoring. In 714 cases, the most frequent violation of the law was failure to register sales.

Due to the high number of violations found, almost in 50% of the audits, and the positive effects these audits have had, the Slovakian TA is announcing an increase in inspections until the end of 2023.
