E-invoicing status in Romania – is it becoming mandatory for B2C or not?

Starting January 1, 2025, Romania plans to make e-invoicing mandatory for most B2C transactions, though there is ongoing discussion regarding the potential postponement of this requirement. Authorities are also clarifying that collecting personal identification numbers (CNPs) from consumers may be optional to address privacy concerns under GDPR.
