Portugal Delays B2G e-Invoicing for Small and Medium Businesses

Portugal has postponed the mandatory B2G electronic invoicing requirement for small, medium, and microenterprises from January 1, 2025, extending the compliance deadline to December 31, 2025. Until then, businesses can continue using alternative invoicing methods rather than the structured CIUS-PT e-invoicing format.

Portuguese authorities have announced another postponement for the mandatory use of B2G (business-to-government) electronic invoicing by small, medium, and microenterprises. Initially required from January 1, 2025, a new decree—Decree-Law no. 13-A/2025—extends the deadline, giving businesses more time to comply.

Until December 31, 2025, these companies can continue using alternative invoicing methods instead of the structured CIUS-PT e-invoicing format. This decision provides additional flexibility for affected businesses as they transition to the new system.
