This year, NAV published its audit plan, which shows which areas it focuses on in its investigations. Special attention will continue to be paid to the e-commerce sector. Thanks to digital developments in recent years, such as EKAER and online billing, the agency has all the tools to do this. A new trend also seems to emerge from the information provided by the NAV: the focus is on the analysis of data obtained in the framework of the international exchange of information – this is justified by the fact that from July 1, 2020, a new reporting obligation will apply to cross-border tax planning schemes. The purpose of the regulation is to provide NAV and the tax authorities of the Member States of the EU with comprehensive and relevant information on planned transactions. The Office will likely devote more capacity to auditing international transactions that have been reported to NAV by foreign tax authorities.
