General information
AFNOR has released updated versions of three key French e-invoicing standards in June 2026: XP Z12-012, XP Z12-013, and XP Z12-014. These replace the February 2026 editions and aim to clarify rules for software vendors, ERP providers, and approved platforms.
The updates do not change the overall reform model but consolidate industry feedback and remove ambiguities. They highlight that success in the French e-invoicing reform depends not only on technical connectivity but also on proper business process modelling. This includes handling invoice lifecycle events, status exchanges, and complex commercial scenarios.
The three standards cover:
- XP Z12-012 – Invoice formats, semantic model, and lifecycle statuses.
- XP Z12-013 – API specifications between enterprise systems and approved platforms.
- XP Z12-014 – B2B business use cases.
With the mandatory phase of the reform starting in September 2026, these standards provide a more mature framework for interoperability. They stress the importance of a shared understanding of invoice lifecycles and commercial events across all participants in the ecosystem.
