The meaning of the pilot operation for Fiscalization EET 2.0 in the Czech republic
The Tax Authority of Czech Republic has confirmed that the new EET 2.0 fiscalizaation system will come into effect on 1 January 2027, marking the start of normal operation for all entrepreneurs required to record sales.
Unlike the earlier EET 1.0 system, the new law does not envisage any gradual start-up based on activity type. All entrepreneurs receiving recorded sales must comply from the very first day.
As a reminder, From 1 November 2026, entrepreneurs will be able to prepare through the Tax Information Box Plus (DIS+) on the MY TAXES portal. Preparations include:
· Obtaining a certificates for recording sales
· Reporting registration unit data
Pilot Mode in January 2027: during January 2027, businesses will have the chance to fine-tune their cash register systems to meet the legal requirements for data format and structure. This period will serve as a pilot mode, allowing:
- Verification of the system’s functionality in practice
- Resolution of technical or operational issues
- Methodological support from the Financial Administration
The Tax Authority emphasized that its focus during this pilot phase will be on assisting entrepreneurs with correct system settings rather than strict enforcement.
This clarification makes it clear: EET 2.0 goes live for everyone on 1 January 2027, with preparatory steps available from November and a supportive pilot phase in January.
Importantly, data in Pilot period will not be test data, but data sent from the production environment. However, during January 2027, when the pilot operation will take place, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to fine-tune the settings of their cash registers.
