The implementation of the E-invoicing project in Serbia

The implementation of the E-invoicing project will revolutionize the invoicing mechanism which is used by the public and private sector for a long time.

The E-invoicing system will be as its explained and announced by the Ministry of Finance and the Law on E-invoicing be introduced gradually, depending on the sector from which the business entity comes and with whom it operates.

As it’s announced by the authorities the usage of e-invoices will be free for commerce, so the financial burden from that perspective will be eliminated.

The usage of e-invoices will elevate the quality and effectiveness of the business entities in the process of sending, receiving, and storing invoices.

The new legal framework defines the introduction of the new centralized platform for the exchange of invoices for the parties coming from the public or private sector.

The Law on E-invoicing, besides the public sector, covers subjects coming from the private sector which are in the VAT regime. Besides these obligatory users of the new e-invoicing system, the entities which aren’t in the VAT regime can also use the E-invoices voluntarily.

E-invoices will be sent electronically, with mandatory requirements about elements of the invoice, which will be followed with the PDF document.

This regulation is based on the EU Directive covering this subject and the Law on VAT and other Rulebooks and related ordinances which define the legal framework of the VAT in the Republic of Serbia.

There is a possibility to print the E-invoice in one or more samples until the deadline for the obligatory storage of the issue e-invoices. Because the issued E-invoice is a valid accounting document.

Deriving from the legal provisions covering the e-invoices, its planned introduction, and realization of the project – System of the E-invoices, which will be specifically protected application, which the users, registered, could use and manage directly via browser.
