A significant increase in online shopping in the Czech Republic
Interestingly, large e-shops are losing their current advantage of fast and reliable logistics. During the lockdown, people became convinced that smaller e-shops could be relied on and would not be afraid of them in the future.
Also, the ban on restaurant visits and the obligation to work from home led Czechs to buy more food – a total of 41% of buyers chose the food. Around a quarter of respondents said they bought more alcoholic beverages during the pandemic.
Even pet supplies were bought through the Internet – a total of 67% of buyers would like to continue doing so in the future, as well.
However, Czechs still prefer in-store shopping when it comes to clothes, shoes, or food. On the contrary, for goods that do not need to be tried by the customer, in general, they intend to consider purchasing in the future at least. In addition to electricity, it also includes cosmetics, books, toys, food for pets, as well as sports equipment.
