An electronic invoicing system in Romania

From September 2021, economic operators will use an electronic invoicing system to upload, store and download the invoices they issue, concerning public institutions (B2G).

This is the first step of a broader program aimed at implementing electronic invoicing among all companies (B2B) in Romania.

The implementation of the mandatory electronic invoicing system, both between the economic operators and the public institutions (B2G), as well as in the relations between the economic operators (B2B), will mean efficiency and predictability in the spreading of money by the public institutions and higher the revenues collected from the national budget, because of the lower tax evasion. With the operationalization of the electronic invoicing system in the field of public procurement, Romania will be in line with the EU standards in this field.
