No more printed receipts in France!

As of January 1st, 2023, receipts, credit card slips, and purchase vouchers will no longer be systematically printed. This is to protect the environment but also health.

Due to a recent effort to shift towards a circular economy, waste reduction, but also due to harmful materials present in receipt heat-activated ink and in accordance with the provisions of Article L. 541-15-10 of the Environmental Code receipts will only be printed in case the customer explicitly asks for a printed copy, otherwise, receipts can be sent via e-mail. A decree to confirm this provision of the Environmental Code is soon to be adopted.
