Summary
According to the latest news in Greece, some of the details of implementation of the upcoming fiscal requirements has been announced and are as follows. In accordance with the National Recovery Plan set forth by the Greek officials with the aim to be implemented during the next 2 years, all companies will be obliged to update or in some other cases replace their cash registers in order to be able to connect to the myDATA (e-books) of AADE in almost real-time. However, it will not yet be known to the tax authorities whether the payment will have been made in cash or electronically using a card.

However, the interconnection of the cash register with the electronic POS system will give the tax administration this important information as well. The process will be divided into two phases.
In the first phase, the reform aims to replace or update all cash registers that cannot function as the expected new generation Electronic Cash Registers (OCRs).
In a second phase, businesses will need to connect their cash registers online with myDATA to automatically register their retail transactions in e-books. In the last phase of the project implementation, the new generation OCR-type cash registers will have to be interconnected with POS systems in order to ensure the issuance of a receipt when a card payment is accepted.
