Management of installments and deposits in France

Article L 114-1 last paragraph of the Consumer Code specifies that "unless otherwise stipulated in the contract, the sums paid in advance are deposits, which has the effect that each of the contracting parties may reconsider their commitment, the consumer losing the deposit, the professional returning them twice".
