Public Croatia, Slovenia 2 Countries Author: Kristina Dosen
There is now a proposal for a commerce law in Croatia that would allow stores to be open 16 Sundays each year. They hope to do this by granting workers more rights and making it simpler to manage family life. Additionally, the proposal includes exclusions. In Croatia, stores can be found in bus and train stations, airports, ports, ships, petrol stations, hotels, hospitals, and cultural institutions. On Sundays, markets will also be open.

The law is intended to be put into effect beginning in July. Which 16 Sundays the stores will be open will be up to the discretion of the shop owners. The most possible number of working hours is 105 if Sunday is a business day. There is a 90-hour workweek that runs from Monday through Saturday. After the law has gone into effect, which is anticipated to be in July of this year, the sixteen authorized Sundays will not be considered working Sundays until the year 2023.

In contrast to Croatia, where stores might be open 16 Sundays a year, most stores in Slovenia are closed on Sundays and major holidays. An amendment was made to the Trade Act (ZT-1) in 2020. Nonetheless, there are several exceptions that can run on Sundays, even in our nation. They include stores with a floor space of up to 200 square meters, as well as stores located in airports, train and bus stations, hospitals, border crossings, and ports used by public transportation. The exceptions used to include stores in museums and visitor information centers.
