The jar of tipping is the new target of the ANAF inspectors since it can mislead the actual amount of tips that have been acquired by the establishments that need to comply with the new regulations. The new tipping regulation has brought about the necessity to record received tips on the receipts issued in the HoReCa industry, and because of that, tips would need to be recorded accordingly for each purchase for which they were given.

From ANAF, it is assumed that the tips that would have been acquired using jars, boxes, and similar objects placed on the counter would probably not be very high, nevertheless, the authorities warn that each tip given needs to be recorded and taxed under the new regulation for this area.

According to the ANAF chief, tipping has to be taxed because that's what the law defines. Those managers or owners of such establishments should no longer use that jar mechanism on the bar or counter, as a place where someone puts money, because it is no longer legal to do it in such a way.

According to the current situation, ANAF inspectors will conduct checks if there are any complaints whatsoever in this regard. ANAF noted that they are obliged to go check in case of any assumed notification. The complaint can be made by employees, customers, or even an ANAF employee if they notice such non-compliance.
