The most important difference between the "old" and new systems is the rule that, starting April 26, 2023, registering, deregistering, and changing register data of cash registers in the Intelligent Electronic Cash Register subsystem (i.EKA) on behalf of economic entities can be performed only by service companies that have the special authorizations granted to them by economic entities in i.EKA. That is logical because of the new rules that must be respected, in accordance with the new changes in the fiscalization system in Lithuania. That means, that companies and retailers cannot perform registration, cash registers, and related tasks by themselves. This rule also affects vending machines and all other special-purpose cash registers in Lithuania.
