Norwegian VAT rates in 2023

This decision outlines the different VAT rates that apply to various goods and services in Norway for the current year. The standard VAT rate remains unchanged at 25%. The reduced VAT rate of 12% applies to people's transportation and vehicles, lodging and board rentals, cinemas, and sports activities. This lower rate is intended to make these activities more affordable and accessible to the general public.

In addition, a lower VAT rate of 11.11% applies to wild marine resources. This is a reduction from the previous year's rate of 12%, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting the sustainable use of natural resources while also promoting economic growth in the fishing industry.
