The summer sale date changed in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France.

The summer sales period in France starts on the last Wednesday in June on a national level. However, some parts of France have the sales period at different times due to their geographical location and importance for tourism.

In a move that seeks to align the summer sales dates with national standards, a new decree has been issued, abolishing the previous derogation in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The decree, issued under the provisions of Article L. 310-3 of the Commercial Code, aims to establish a consistent start date for the highly anticipated annual event.

Traditionally, the summer sales in the Alpes-Maritimes start on the first Wednesday of July. However, the recent decree states that the summer sales will now commence in sync with the national schedule, beginning on the last Wednesday of June at 8 a.m. In cases where the last Wednesday of June falls on June 29 or June 30, the sales will commence on the penultimate Wednesday of the month.

Retailers and shoppers alike are urged to take note of the new summer sales dates to avoid any confusion or inconvenience since the Maritime-Alps region is a major tourist destination that includes famous cities such as Cannes and Nice.

As a reminder, summer and winter sales periods are the only times in France when it is legal to cut sales prices below purchase prices, with some additional rules we have previously reported on.
