How are controls of the margins on basic foodstuffs and other products in the Federation of BiH performed?

The Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina came into force, which prescribes retail and wholesale margins on certain items in stores. Inspectors in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina check whether the decisions made are respected and whether the traders are compliant without exceptions. The decision on margins refers to 15 items, mostly basic foodstuffs, where margins may not exceed 5 percent in wholesale and 8 percent in retail. The inspectors have been in control since the 13th of October and will continue with controls in this area with increased engagement during this fall.

In order to properly apply the Decision on prescribing measures of direct price control by determining the maximum level of margins for certain basic foodstuffs and other products ("Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", No.76/23), which entered into force on October 12, 2010, the inspectors in FBIH have started performing audits and checks to observe the application of the new measures.

As before, the subject of inspections will, among other things, be the trade of goods and services, bookkeeping, the trade of certain items, the issuance of fiscal receipts, the use of monetary incentives in agriculture and rural development, performing pharmaceutical activities, and supervision in other areas under the jurisdiction of 11 federal inspectorates, as stated by the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs (FUZIP).

In addition, the Federal Market Inspectorate will focus on price control in accordance with the new decision on prescribing measures of direct price control by determining the maximum level of margins for individual basic foodstuffs and other products, whose application began on October 12th.
