How does Hungary plan to implement the gradual implementation of e-cash registers and e-receipts?

According to the latest publication from Hungarian authorities and based on additional published information, the deadlines for introducing eCash registers and e-receipts as a valid form of receipt in Hungary are as follows...

• The first approved electronic cash registers could be put into operation at the beginning of July 2024.
• From that moment on, no new type of OCR, i.e., online cash registers, could be licensed further. This means those OCRs that were approved by that time could be used further, but no new licenses will be given for OCR types of cash registers, based on the current information.
• The service for receiving e-receipts will also become usable sometime during the summer of 2024.
• Also, from the summer of 2025 on, it would not be possible to put the newly produced OCR into operation.
• Additionally, from the summer of 2028, only electronic cash registers (new e-Cash registers) could be used in Hungary, completely replacing the OCRs that are currently used in this country.

To round off, the main deadlines for the implementation of e-receipts and e-cash registers in Hungary are expected to take place gradually from July 2024 to July 2028. However, the text also warns that these deadlines are not final and may be subject to change depending on the approval of the relevant authorities in the upcoming months.
