To clarify the obligation to inform consumers equally in the online environment, the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has established at the order level that those who manage sites for sales, taking online orders, and/or advertising products and/or services, tourist services, selling tourist packages or plane tickets, and even e-commerce are obliged to display on the site, easily accessible to consumers, more information regarding the authorization to carry out the activity.
Traders who perform sales in the online environment will have until January 25th to comply with the new obligation, then risk becoming delisted.
This means that businesses that run or are on sales websites, take online orders and/or promote products and/or services, offer travel services, sell travel packages or plane tickets, and do online shopping, must show the following information:
- the name of the business;
- unique registration code;
- the number from the list of businesses from which the type or types of activity come;
- the address of the main office and/or the place where they actually do their activity;
- the series and number of all permits, notices, proofs, certificates, and licenses needed to do the activity, as well as who issued them.
The above documents are put in the view of the customer at the first contact with the presentation of the business before starting the order, so that the information is easy to see (visible and not hidden or hard to access). Also, documents must not be hidden by other written, picture, or searchable materials elsewhere.
Businesses that do not show information about the legality of the activity will be removed from the sales website at the request of the authority.
