The Danish Tax Agency has underscored the severity of non-compliance by introducing escalating fines for businesses found to be in violation during routine inspections.
- First Visit: In the event of a non-compliant digital sales registration system during the initial inspection, a penalty of DKK 10,000 (€1,344) will be imposed.
- Second Visit: Persistent non-adherence will result in a steeper fine of DKK 20,000 (€2,688) upon the second inspection.
- Third Visit: For businesses that continue to neglect the regulations, the penalty escalates to DKK 30,000 (€4,032) during the third inspection.
Furthermore, the repercussions extend beyond one-time fines. Companies failing to meet the digital sales registration system requirements may also face daily penalties until compliance is achieved. These daily fines start at a minimum of DKK 1,000 (€134), emphasizing the continuous financial strain businesses could endure if they remain non-compliant.
