Summary
A press release was published by the Greek Tax Authority (AADE) regarding further clarifications on interconnection requirements. The principle of "once interconnected, always interconnected" is strictly observed by businesses that replace their already interconnected systems, by the provisions of the A. 1116/2024 decision of the Governor of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue, Mr. Pitsilis.

By the same decision, businesses that have proceeded with the interconnection of their cash system with payment instruments, which, however, does not fully comply with the specifications, are granted an extension until October 31, 2024, for their full compliance, provided that:

  • Their payment instruments do not allow free typing of amounts, and also
  • AADE has received relevant information from the Terminal Providers (NSPs).

Both of the above-mentioned needs need to be fulfilled for the extension to take place. The above decision, explaining who still has some time to comply, avoids circumventing the deadlines given for the smooth interconnection of businesses, depending on their cash systems and their operational needs, and encourages compliance with legal obligations, taking into account the huge efforts made by the vast majority of obliged businesses beforehand.
