With Tap to Pay, iPhone users can transform their devices into payment terminals, removing the need for extra hardware for merchants. The representatives from Apple stated that it empowers millions of merchants to accept all types of payments seamlessly and securely. The service has been accessible in Czechia since 29, October, 2024.

iPhone users can tap their contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet onto a merchant's iPhone and make a secure payment using NFC-based technology.

The new feature is compatible with iPhone Xs and newer models, but users must have the latest version of iOS installed. The functionality of Tap to Pay differs by country due to Apple's various partnerships with financial institutions in each region.

As stated by Apple, Tap to Pay on the iPhone supports contactless credit and debit cards from major banks, including American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa. In Czechia, several payment services, such as Adyen, SumUp, Viva, Erste Bank, Global Payments, and Stripe, are all compatible with Tap to Pay.
