Fiscal subject related
As Bulgaria moves towards the adoption of the euro, several institutions and authorities are set to play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and lawful transition. Each body will oversee specific aspects of compliance and enforcement:
• National Revenue Agency (NRA): the NRA will address violations related to payment documents issued to citizens or cases where traders unjustifiably increase prices for goods and services, without objective economic factors to support such changes.
• Consumer Protection Commission (CPC): the CPC will handle cases involving double pricing or other forms of consumer misrepresentation, ensuring fair practices during the transition.
• Bulgarian National Bank (BNB): the BNB will oversee violations committed by credit institutions under its supervision.
• Financial Supervision Commission (FSC): the FSC will monitor banks, investment intermediaries, and other entities it supervises, including depositories, managers of alternative investment funds, and organized securities markets.
• Minister of Electronic Governance: administrative bodies, public functionaries, and organizations providing public services will be required to align their financial information systems with the provisions of the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria and the Law on Electronic Governance. This responsibility falls under the purview of the Minister of Electronic Governance.
These institutions will work collectively to safeguard a fair and orderly euro adoption process in Bulgaria.
