France Publishes Updated External Specifications Ahead of 2026 E-Invoicing Reform

France has released a new version of the external technical specifications for the upcoming national e-invoicing and e-reporting reform. Alongside the update, AFNOR’s Standardization Commission has also published revised documentation defining the minimum mandatory formats and profiles required by the reform, including invoice structures, status messages, B2B use-case scenarios, and standardized APIs that will connect company information systems with certified platforms.

These publications mark the completion of the consultation process carried out throughout 2025 under AFNOR’s supervision. The updated materials are intended to ensure smooth nationwide implementation of mandatory e-invoicing and e-reporting starting 1 September 2026.

The new specifications provide companies, software providers, and certified platforms with the final technical guidelines necessary for adapting their systems ahead of the reform’s launch. The French administration aims to guarantee interoperability, data quality, and compliance across all actors involved in digital invoice exchange.
