Albania: Cashless Payment Compliance Deadline Approaching

Businesses and public entities subject to the new cashless payment requirement have 27 days left to comply with the obligation to enable cashless payments through POS/POI devices at sales points.

The requirement applies to accommodation structures, transport service providers, and state-owned public institutions and companies. The measure aims to improve payment transparency, increase the speed and efficiency of services, and support the further formalization of the economy.

The legal compliance deadline is May 30, 2026. Affected entities are advised to complete the necessary technical and operational preparations as soon as possible and avoid waiting until the final days before the deadline.
