Czech Republic opens EET 2.0 Cash Register certificate generation ahead of January 2027 launch
The Czech Financial Administration has enabled businesses to generate free cash register certificates for EET 2.0 through the MOJE daně portal from November 1, 2026. Businesses can now prepare their POS systems for the new electronic sales reporting requirements starting January 1, 2027.
The Czech Financial Administration has officially launched a new service allowing businesses to generate and manage cash register certificates for the upcoming Electronic Registration of Sales (EET 2.0) system.
Available since November 1, 2026, the service is accessible through the MOJE daně (MY TAXES) portal, using the DIS+ online tax information system. Businesses can generate certificates themselves without waiting for their POS software supplier to obtain them. The portal is available here: https://eet.gov.cz/cs/online-sluzby?utm_.com
The certificates are electronic, free of charge, and businesses may generate multiple certificates depending on their operational needs.
This development is an important preparation step before EET 2.0 begins regular operation on January 1, 2027. The Financial Administration has confirmed that the certificate generation service is operational.
The DIS+ portal now provides access to three important certificate management functions:
- Certificate generation: Businesses can create cash register certificates for their POS systems.
- Certificate revocation: Certificates can be invalidated when a device is lost, replaced, compromised, or no longer used.
- Certificate management: Businesses can review issued certificates and requests and manage their certificate-related activities.
Businesses must first register their EET reporting units, known as evidenční jednotky. These units can include physical stores, mobile sales locations, vehicles, and other business operations covered by the system.
Each reporting unit receives an identification number within the taxpayer's registration. A business operating multiple stores, for example, can register its locations separately.
Businesses can generate one or several certificates. They do not necessarily need a separate certificate for every cash register, but should select an appropriate certificate configuration based on their POS infrastructure and security requirements.
Certificates are used to electronically sign sales data transmitted to the Financial Administration, confirming the identity of the taxpayer and protecting the integrity of the information.
The certificate must also be securely installed and correctly configured in the POS software. A business that generates a certificate but fails to install it properly may still experience difficulties transmitting sales data.
The Financial Administration therefore recommends that businesses coordinate with their POS suppliers to ensure their equipment and software are compatible with EET 2.0.
Importantly, a cash register certificate is not the same as certification or official approval of the POS software itself. Its purpose is to authenticate the taxpayer's sales messages.
How can businesses generate and install an EET 2.0 certificate?
The process is handled electronically through the MOJE daně portal.
- Access the portal: Open MOJE daně and enter the DIS+ online tax information system.
- Log in: Use an accepted authentication method, such as a Czech banking identity, data mailbox credentials, or access credentials issued by the Financial Administration.
- Register for EET 2.0: Activate electronic sales reporting within DIS+ and register the relevant reporting units.
- Generate the certificate: Access the CA EET certification authority through DIS+ and request a free cash register certificate.
- Download and install it: Securely save the certificate and its password, then install it in the POS system following the supplier's instructions.
- Verify the configuration: Check that the POS system can sign and transmit the required sales messages correctly.
The certificate and its associated credentials must be stored securely. Businesses should also monitor certificate validity and arrange replacement before expiration.
The system supports the possibility of automated certificate renewal, provided that the POS software includes the necessary functionality.
Although the process is primarily online, taxpayers without existing electronic identification or access credentials may need additional identity verification, potentially including a visit to a tax office.
The Financial Administration has published the following implementation schedule. The Playground environment has already been available to POS developers since July 2026. Businesses should distinguish this from the December 1 launch of the free MOJE eet application, which is intended mainly for smaller businesses without their own POS solution.
Implementation Impact and What Businesses Should Do
The launch of certificate generation marks an important operational milestone for EET 2.0 and allows businesses to begin configuring their sales reporting systems before January 2027.
Retailers, hospitality operators, and other affected businesses should:
- Confirm whether their transactions fall within the EET 2.0 reporting requirements.
- Register their reporting units in DIS+ and obtain the necessary cash register certificates.
- Coordinate with POS suppliers to install certificates securely and verify EET 2.0 compatibility.
- Test transaction reporting, certificate functionality, and error handling before the mandatory launch.
- Establish procedures for certificate renewal, revocation, and replacement.
For POS software providers, the priority is to support secure certificate installation, digital signing of sales messages, certificate management, and reliable communication with the Financial Administration.
