The implementation of the IVAucher program in Portugal

IVAucher is a free membership program and there is no cost for the consumer. IVAucher has no usage limits per consumer, the only limit being the fact that the accumulated VAT amount cannot be used to pay more than 50% of a new purchase.

The Government has provided for the IVAuacher from the state budget for 2021 the sum of 200 million euros. It means that allows consumers to accumulate up to 200 million in VAT and use that amount for purchases in some of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, using the amount to obtain discounts on subsequent purchases in the same sectors.

The VAT from the catering, accommodation, and culture sectors is automatically credited to an account assigned to consumers who, in the last quarter, will be able to use this credit for expenses in these three sectors: accommodation, restaurants, and culture.
