Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has prepared the launching of the pilot version of the OECD’s Standard Audit File for Tax (SAF-T). This country has already completed a public consultation for this matter at the start of 2021. Given the ongoing COVID-19 emergency, it is likely that any start date may be in late 2022 at the earliest.

Let us remind you that Hungary has launched its version of real-time invoicing reporting already in 2018 and it is being used as the basis for draft VAT return service for taxpayers in this country.
Many of the European counties have introduced this reporting system, and Hungary is now following suit. With the introduction of SAF-T in addition to the existing real-time invoice reporting, the Hungarian government plans to replace the existing Adatexport audit report that is currently used. This mentioned report works in such a way that it extracts certain accounting information from invoices at the request of the National Tax and Customs Authority.
