In general, cash registers in Sweden must be certified and reported to the Swedish Tax Agency. Then, the Swedish Tax Agency has approved cash registers on its list that must be manufacturer-declared by the responsible manufacturer or developer.

But, the Swedish tax agency does not perform certification directly. The Swedish Tax Agency approves cash registers indirectly via so-called manufacturer declarations. It is up to the cash register manufacturers to certify that they comply with all the regulations of the Cash Register Act. In such a declaration, the cash register manufacturer states that the solution complies with all laws and regulations.
