During the first 6 months after the introduction of the euro, banknotes and coins can be exchanged free of charge from BGN to EUR at credit institutions (banks). For the same period, "Bulgarian Posts" EAD will exchange banknotes and coins from levs into euros free of charge only in populated areas where there are no offices or branches of a credit institution. After the first 6 months of the introduction of the euro, credit institutions and "Bulgarian Post" EAD will be able to charge a fee for this service. After 12 months have passed since the introduction of the euro, credit institutions and "Bulgarian Post" EAD may discontinue this service. There are no restrictions on the amount of money exchanged in the BNB.
