From January 1st, 2022, it will no longer be possible to pay in cash an amount higher than 1,000 euros in that country. All amounts higher than 1,000 euros will have to be paid by payment card, credit card, checks, or through an account.

Whoever violates this decision will be fined at least 2,000 euros, and the fine can reach up to 50,000 euros. This measure should contribute to the suppression of the gray economy and tax evasion and also encourage electronic payment systems.
