At the same time, companies will receive vouchers to replace thousands of cash registers, and 100,000 POS devices, but also to create e-shops and cloud storage spaces. The upgrade of the cash registers is one of the new projects that are included for financing in the Recovery Fund with a budget of 162,440,000 euros.
In the second phase, AADE will run another competition so to speak. It concerns the biggest weapon that the control mechanism will have at its disposal, which is the integration of artificial intelligence in the arsenal of the control mechanism through which attempts will be made to curb tax evasion and uncover individual tax evasion cases.
According to the decision signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, the goal will be achieved through the interconnection of cash registers with POS terminals and the connection of cash registers to the AADE electronic system and the transmission of information on the issued receipts in actual real-time. In Greece, it is estimated that there are about 600,000 cash registers, of which about 288,000 can be connected electronically to the tax office, 150,000 have the technological ability to interface with the tax authorities, while there are 161,000 who do not have online capabilities due to the age of the model.
In addition, in many areas of activity of the Greek economy the existence, use and operation of cash registers is not mandatory (gyms, educational services, parking, cultural services, car rentals, etc.). It is estimated that more than 50,000 cash registers and POS terminals will be installed in these sectors.
