Norway’s digital government portal Altinn has introduced a new login option that allows users to sign in using their email address. The feature is designed to make access more flexible, accessible, and secure, particularly for users who do not have a Norwegian national identity number.

To use the new Email Login function, users must first register their email address. The solution aims to simplify access to Altinn’s public services while supporting individuals and businesses operating in Norway without national ID credentials.

Users who currently log in without a Norwegian national identity number or D-number can continue using their existing accounts until June 19, 2026. After that date, they will need to create a new account using the email login system.

The update marks another step in Altinn’s ongoing efforts to modernize digital access and improve usability for domestic and international users alike.
