 Sweden has officially published a new law amending the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act. The measure is registered as Law No. SFS 2026:841.

The law sets a reduced VAT rate of 6 percent on admission tickets to:

  • Cultural events such as concerts, theater, opera, ballet, and similar performances.
  • Dance events.
  • Nature attractions including zoos, national parks, nature reserves, national city parks, and designated Natura 2000 areas outside urban zones.

The new VAT rules will take effect on July 1, 2026, and apply only to taxable events occurring after that date.
