The Ministry of Finance, together with the Tax and Customs Administration, has announced that it will conduct intensified monitoring activities across Croatia during the Advent period and upcoming holidays. The targeted inspections will take place from 29 November 2025 to 7 January 2026 and will focus on businesses that accept cash payments for goods and services.

According to the authorities, data from the national fiscalization system is monitored daily, allowing inspectors to perform risk-based and highly targeted controls. Using advanced analytical methods and the IT system for real-time fiscalization, officials will verify whether receipts are being properly issued and recorded at the moment of sale.

The goal of the campaign is to identify non-compliant taxpayers who are not adhering to fiscal and tax regulations, while ensuring a fair and competitive business environment for compliant businesses.

The Tax Administration emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward taxpayers who fail to issue receipts, noting that such practices undermine financial discipline. Citizens, as well as legal and natural persons, are encouraged to report any irregularities via the toll-free hotline 0800-10-01, the “Pišite nam” online service, the mPorezna mobile application, or by visiting the nearest Tax Administration office.

As the announcement concludes: “Always ask for a receipt when paying in cash — because without a receipt, it doesn’t count.”
