The Portuguese Finance Portal has unveiled a new section in English titled “Tax Information”, designed to improve access for foreign citizens to essential resources provided by the Tax and Customs Authority.

The new page, accessible from the main portal menu and from side menus across different segments, replaces the former “Portuguese Tax System” section. Officials say the update reflects a broader commitment to transparency, accessibility, and quality in public service.

Features of the new page:

  • Clear and objective language to ensure information is easy to understand.
  • Improved navigation with a simple, logical, and intuitive structure.
  • Citizen-focused content that prioritizes relevance and usability.
  • Improved accessibility to promote a better user experience.

In addition to these improvements, the traditional PDF brochures have been replaced by dynamic content pages, creating a single point of access for tax-related information and services.

On this page, we can see the main tax topics for individuals, businesses, travellers, and non-residents. For business, there is information regarding VAT, certified invoicing systems, SAF-T file information, and much more that is relevant for the fiscalization as well.

Authorities confirmed that new content will be gradually added to meet the evolving needs of foreign citizens who rely on the Finance Portal.

This initiative underscores the Tax and Customs Authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen proximity with users and reinforce its role as a transparent and citizen-orientated institution.
