General information
North Macedonia has launched the third pilot phase of its national e-Faktura e-invoicing platform.
The Tax Authority (Public Revenue Office) has now moved from API testing to testing real business processes. This includes invoice creation, submission, acceptance, rejection, and cancellation.
This phase is important because it is usually one of the final steps before the system is introduced in production. It also indicates that the planned October 2026 mandate remains on track.
The testing application currently supports the General Invoice document type and 12 tax indicator categories.
Taxpayers have been invited to participate in the pilot phase and provide feedback before the mandatory rollout.
Under the planned system, invoices for non-cash transactions will be issued and validated electronically through the central platform. After validation, each invoice will receive a unique code, allowing better traceability and real-time control.
This model is similar to a Continuous Transaction Control system, where invoice data is sent to the Tax Authority for validation before the invoice is legally used.
The reform represents a major change in how North Macedonia will control and report non-cash transactions.
